Bertie’s was started by me, Peter Tweddell. I wanted to start a company that reflected my beliefs and principles, especially those associated with the environment and the Kent countryside.

At Bertie's we work hard to minimise our environmental impact. All the timber we use for production is sourced from local coppiced woodlands, an ancient land management practice that encourages healthy tree growth and flourishing flora and fauna. All our production techniques are designed to have as low an impact as possible, with our log drying kilns fired using wood waste from our processing line. We encourage our customers to return all packaging for re-use or recycling.

The Bertie’s staff live locally and all have helped enormously to make Bertie’s a successful and rewarding place to work.

Bertie the Cat...
